Our first attempt at iMovies and a comment on Stage Challenge.

A comment on Stage Challenge - Raw, yr 9 and 10.
Today(Thursday) at the North Division assembly we had a performance of the winning entry in the junior section of Stage Challenge. It was AMAZING!! There were several students from 9SKn in the cast with Jackson as one of the leads. The standard of the production was due to a great team effort and commitment from all involved. Well done all of you. (See below for pictures and more information from Montana-Rose and Paige)

We have a class Vimeo channel which allows us to upload movies from iPods and iPads using
iMovie. Look out for future productions.

Our class contribution to STAGE CHALLENGE 2013

Yesterday 5 members of 9SKN, Tarah, Jackson, Helen, Montana-Rose and Charlotte competed in Stage Challenge RAW division 2013.

After months of practices, hard work and dedication, over 100 year 9 and 10 BHS pupils went to the CBS Arena to compete against 4 other schools, Darlfield High, UNLIMITED, Kaikoura High, and Avonside Girls. The day was intense with one rehearsal on stage in the morning, and a chance to size up and support the other schools as they rehearsed. 'Time for what Matters' was the name of our performance, showing how in our daily lives we rush and stress over unimporant things, and we need to just BREATHE and slow down, and appreciate the greater things in life before they are gone. Our performance was clean, polished and stood out from the rest. Which we guess is why, BURNSIDE RAW CAME IN 1ST PLACE!!!

Creative writing

This is the old Tjikko tree, it is 9,950 years old.You will find this tree in Sweden, it's known to be the oldest tree in the world.

The last week we have been learning about Creative Writing.We have to write about a Tree and there will be some of the best on here. We all have to choose one of the oldest trees in the world, read the information and then use that as a starter for our writing.

Here is some of our earlier descriptive writing.

The small tired zebra sought shelter by the tall,dark tree that stood under the painted night sky.

The ancient oak trees stand in rows, surrounding a small clearing .They whisper their wisdom to the wind.
