How Cold is it today?

It is cold this morning. Actually it is very cold. Is it too cold for me to go and watch rugby? The Burnside High 1stXV plays at 12.00 at school so it might be warmer by then. Let me check out the temperature.
What about somewhere further south?
Or even further south?

Okay then, Christchurch seems practically tropical this morning. I shall just need to add 4 layers(or more ) of clothing as recommended by Met Service.

Check out the Scott Base webcam and weather forecast here

And the answer tot the question at the top of the page? It is never too cold for Ms Henderson to go and watch rugby!  Go Burnside!

Why Blog? Why Read Blogs? Why comment on Blogs?

Class and Personal blogs are everywhere. I have put the links to three class blogs at the bottom of the page for you to go and look at. There are many reasons for blogs. Some blogs are written by famous or not-so-famous people with lots of followers, other are class blogs shared with students and whanau, others are personal blogs, which are again shared with lots of people or a few or even no-one at all. They are often just a way for people to collect and store their reflections.

Striving for Success

Teachers at Burnside High are currently writing reports for all students and they will go out to parents over the next few weeks. It is a good time to reflect on being successful. Gaining high marks is a combination of many factors. Going to class, being engaged in learning, working in a focused manner, handing in assignments and working to the best of your ability. But it is also about aiming high, striving for that success.
The quote below reflects that idea.

Whaia te iti kahuranga ki te tuahu koe me he maunga teitei
Aim for the highest cloud so that if you miss it, you will hit a lofty mountain

9SKN Mottos

These are some of 9SKn mottos. The first one that says “If you don’t take a chance, you won’t stand a chance” which means  sometimes you have to take a risk to get a better outcome.
The next one says “It is hard to fail but is worse never to have tried to succeed” which means it is better to try and fail than not to try.
Number 3 is “Do unto others as you would have done to yourself” which means treat other people how you want to be treated.
The next one is “you are the protagonist in your own game” which means you are the one that stands in the way of own success.
Number 5 is “No risk, No reward” which means if you don’t take risks you won’t get a good reward and the last one is “Be yourself everyone else is taken” which means don’t try to act like other people.
